ENFORCE at IUFRO
The International Union of Forest Research Organisations (IUFRO) is a global non-profit uniting more than 600 member organisations. The topics dealt with are diverse but are all connected to forests and forest products. Every 4-5 years, a World Congress is held uniting people around the globe in one of the largest global forest events. This time, over 5000 delegates were present in Stockholm!
ENFORCE joined in as well, since the illegal timber trade issue is a very impactful factor in managing and preserving forests around the globe. We met colleagues from for example the US, Germany, Madagascar, Peru, Indonesia and Japan. It was clear that a lot more research and expertise is needed to combat illegal logging and trade of all kinds of precious resources from forests, especially in the Global South. We presented the work we do to our international partners through a presentation and a poster. You can find more infromation about IUFRO here.
